LMPD Partners with Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live to Crush Seized Dodge Charger
Louisville, KY (October 12, 2026) — The Louisville Metro Police Department is teaming up with Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live to send a clear message about the consequences of illegal street takeovers: at one of this weekend's Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow-N-Fire shows, a monster truck will crush a Dodge Charger seized by LMPD during a street-takeover investigation at the Saturday 6:30pm show.
The vehicle being crushed is a 2009 Dodge Charger that was seized during an illegal street racing takeover at Shawnee Park in 2024. It is equipped with a 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat engine. A subsequent investigation identified more than nine stolen parts installed on the vehicle, including the engine, seats, wheels, transmission components, electronic modules, exhaust system, suspension parts, brake system, & more. The stolen parts were traced from Detroit, Michigan, to Indianapolis, Indiana, before the vehicle ended up in Louisville.
The crush sends a visible, high-impact message: street takeovers aren't shows, they're crimes.
“Illegal street racing in Louisville has consequences,” said LMPD Chief Paul L. Humphrey. “If you put people in danger when you’re behind the wheel, don’t be surprised when you lose your car. We made a promise to seize these vehicles and we are delivering on it. Now the public will have a front row seat to watch another vehicle get destroyed.”
Ahead of the weekend destruction, Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live and LMPD are offering local media an exclusive opportunity on Friday, October 16, 2026 5:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. ET (Media may arrive anytime within this window.) Both the seized 2009 Dodge Charger and Rhinomite, a brand-new, thundering monster truck making its world debut on the Glow-N-Fire tour. Rhinomite, weighing in at 12,000 pounds is a glow-in-the-dark spectacle will be on display for up-close filming and photography. Additionally, LMPD representatives, including Officer Kyle Willis, who seized the car, and Rhinomite's driver will be on site and available for interviews.
